It was a historic day on Saturday for the Highlands varsity wrestling program.

The Golden Rams got their first individual section champion in 13 years when Tyler Bender defeated the field.

The eight wrestlers that qualified for the Class 2A WPIAL Championship was also a program record.

Head Coach Grant Walters was also honored with the Section Coach of the Year Award at the tournament.

Other place winners that are advancing are Aiden Burford and Noah Leslie in second place, Javeon Chambers in third place, Julius Saunders and Angelo Markey in fourth place, Bryce Black in fifth place and James Naviglia in sixth place.
