CONGRATULATIONS to senior Samuel Norris, who signed his Letter of Intent to continue his academic and soccer career at Waynesburg University. The Waynesburg Yellow Jackets compete in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) of NCAA Division III. The Highlands Athletic Department celebrated Sam's signing with his family and friends on Nov. 8.
An accomplished athlete and three-year Boys Varsity Soccer Captain, Sam was selected for the Boys Soccer 1-AAA All-Section Second Team in his freshman year and the Boys Soccer 1-AAA All-Section in his junior and senior years. Sam was also a part of the WPIAL All-Star 2023 Game and placed 4th in the WPIALS for Varsity Boys Tennis his junior year. He is also a member of the National Honor Society.
Sam chose Waynesburg because it was a small Christian school where he could challenge himself and learn valuable lessons. He was very impressed by coach Treg Lunger and the culture of his program, and he immediately felt like part of the Waynesburg family.
The son of Jason & Tricia Norris and brother of Gabriel (HHS 2021 graduate) and Claire (9th grade), Sam plans to study Secondary Education Mathematics to become a high school math teacher while continuing to enjoy soccer through coaching and mentoring.
Congratulations, Sam!
